Book in a Bottle Contest Begins

September 2, 2014
9:00 a.m. - 9:00 p.m.

Book in a Bottle is back! During the summer we guessed locations based on clues in the "Message in a Bottle" contests to go with the Summer Reading Program's travel theme. We missed guessing about books, though, so this month we're going back to the popular "Books in a Bottle" contest but adding a tableau of clues to go with the hints given in the paper scraps. Here's how it works: Guess which book is inside the container on the Young Adult Services Desk during September and you will be entered into a raffle for a chance to win a prize. This program is for teens in grades 6-12. Guesses can be submitted at the Young Adult Services Desk anytime between September 2 and September 30. Hint: This book was so popular that it was worn and damaged beyond repair from lots of use. Rather than throw it out, we re-used it by shredding what was left of it and stuffing it into a clear container, creating a fun contest for teens that celebrates the beauty of words. From the winning entries submitted this summer, we pulled one name to receive a prize provided by the Friends of the Carmel Clay Public Library. Winners for the summer contests included our June 15th winner, Carly Chia (correct guess: Egypt); our June 30th winner, Tahlia Membren (correct guess: Australia); and our July 15th winner, Justin Kyrie (correct guess: Atlantic Ocean).
