Early Literacy Fun with Books!

Sharing books with your child is one of the best ways to encourage development of crucial early literacy skills needed for later school success. The books below are great titles to share with your young child. Try a few together engaging your child’s interest by asking him to help hold the book or point out items in the illustrations. For more fun, stop mid-way through the book and ask your child to guess what might happen next or use your voice to add more drama or silliness to the story.

Remember, one important goal of reading together is to show your child how enjoyable reading can be so always keep reading time fun and stop reading when your child loses interest even if you are in the middle of a story. You can always finish the book later.

Happy Reading!
