The Agatha Awards

The Agatha Awards are awarded annually by Malice Domestic Ltd and honor the traditional mystery—books best typified by the works of Agatha Christie. The genre is loosely defined as mysteries which contain no explicit sex or excessive gore or violence. There are six categories for the awards: Best Contemporary Novel, Best First Mystery, Best Historical Novel, Best Short Story, Best Nonfiction and Best Children’s/Young Adult Mystery.

Past winners of the award for Best Novel include The Beautiful Mystery by Louise Penny, Birds of a Feather by Jacqueline Winspear and You’ve Got Murder by Donna Andrews.

The nominees for Best Contemporary Novel for 2013 are listed below. The Agatha Awards will be announced on May 3, 2014 during the Malice Domestic Convention in Bethesda, Maryland.
