Medical Thrillers

Medical Thrillers typically feature a doctor whose life is threatened or a mysterious disease that has infected a segment of the population. Other plots might involve managed care professionals who manipulate the system for the sake of the bottom line. Unethical surgeons, nurses with vendettas, disturbed scientists with delusions of grandeur or terrorists in possession of chemical weapons are all characters you may find in a medical thriller.

The action in these novels often occurs in a hospital lab or medical facility. The hero of the story is asked to race against time to locate a miracle cure or stop a terrorist attack. Medical and scientific details are important and are presented in such a way that the reader receives an inside look at the profession or research topic.

Some of the more popular authors in this genre are Robin Cook, Tess Gerritsen, Michael Palmer and Michael Crichton. See below for a list of exciting medical thrillers available at the library.
