Didn't I Feed You Yesterday? A Mother's Guide to Sanity in Stilettos
by Bennett, Laura
Plot/Summary:
Project Runway finalist and mother of six, Laura Bennett
recounts her experiences raising children in New York
City. She is unapologetic about not cooking for her
family, using nannies and on weekends a "manny" to
coordinate and entertain her brood, and choosing to sign
on for a reality TV show while pregnant with her sixth
child. She offers her personal insight into everything
from helicopter parents who obsess about sugar and food
allergies to the sea of skateboards, balls and duct
tape-covered furniture that fill her 2-bedroom loft
apartment. She gives her take on family vacations and
holidays along with raising a house full of boys, each of
whom comes with a unique personality and challenges.
Comments:
I picked up this book because I'm a working mother who
enjoys reading about other mothers who struggle to balance
career and family and because I enjoyed watching Laura
Bennett compete on Project Runway. I'm fascinated by her
ability to manage such a large family in the hustle and
bustle of Manhattan. Her story is sprinkled with laughs
and fashion tips. This book is recommended for any woman
who needs a reminder that what children really need is a
good role model and what moms really need is a sense of
humor.
