Mighty Fitz: The Sinking of the Edmund Fitzgerald

Plot/Summary:
Mighty Fitz examines the sinking of the Edumund Fitzgerald, a massive iron ore carrier, which sank in Lake Superior with all hands during a ferocious storm in November 1975. In the aftermath, the Coast Guard and other officials strugged to determine exactly what happened to the Fitzgerald. Schumacher traces the last voyage of the Fitzgerald and elaborates on the possible reasons for the sinking. Along the way, he weaves in details of other famous Great Lakes shipwrecks.

Comments:
The Edmund Fitzgerald has become one of the most famous Great Lakes shipwrecks of all time, in no small part due to the classic ballad recorded by Gordon Lightfoot shortly after the tragedy.
