The Computer Training and Support
Specialist provides training,
technical support and troubleshooting
to all library departments for their
computer hardware, software and voice
mail systems. Specific duties include
but are not limited to:
developing and maintaining multi-media
training materials on commonly used
software (Windows, Word, Excel,
PowerPoint, Publisher, etc.) and
hardware for use by staff and/or
patrons;
scheduling and conducting classroom
training for staff on the above
mentioned software products as well as
library-specific software;
providing individual technical support
to staff regarding workstation,
printer, or software issues;
assisting with staffing the Technology
Center desk and providing limited
instruction to patrons in using the
Internet, databases, and software
products;
setting up email and voice mail
accounts and providing orientation
materials for new staff;
installing new software and software
upgrades;
updating the library's Web page and
intranet content as needed or
requested.
This position requires a technology-
related bachelor's degree and at least
two years of experience working with
computer applications in a public
service environment OR a non-related
bachelor's degree plus at least five
years of technology-related
experience. Candidates must also be
proficient in the use of Word, Excel,
PowerPoint and Publisher; have a good
working knowledge of microcomputer
hardware, operating systems and
applications, network technology and
the Internet; be able to plan and
present training programs with
confidence and ease; and be flexible,
self-directed, and able to work with
minimum supervision.
