Preserving Digital Photographs
Saturday, April 13, 2013
9:00 a.m. - 12:00 p.m.
Digital photography has gradually dominated since the 1990s, but will our descendants ever see our electronic photographs? It is highly unlikely unless we take steps to preserve the images. Presenter Joan Hostetler will discuss the basics (what is a digital photograph?), technical standards for good images, scanning old family photos, selecting equipment, the pros and cons of digital storage devices, and cloud back-up. There is no cost to attend, but registration is required at http://digitalpreservation-eorg.eventbrite.com/. This program will be held in the Program Room and is co-sponsored by Indiana Humanities and the Carmel Clay Historical Society.
