The Giver by Lois Lowry I loved this book when I was younger and read it in middle school. My son read it recently as a pleasure read as well and really enjoyed it. Though honestly, I'm not sure that I could read it again as an adult. The hidden communities and rules that governor the community that Jonas lives in is too much to think about now after having children myself as well as family and friends serve in the military.
