| I read a couple of books by Jonathan Kozol, a journalist who documents the stories of America's urban poor, during college. This book is a where-are-they-now update on some of the families he had written about in the 90s. I recommend it whether you've read his older works or not. Plenty of background info is given, and the stories, both tragic and inspirational, had me laughing sometimes and crying others.
