Divergent
Divergent by Veronica Roth (Adventure, Suspense, Travel, Sports)
A fast, thrilling dystopian novel. I especially liked the "extras" at the end, kind of like DVD extras - more books should have authors' thoughts, manifestos, quizzes, quotes, and the like. -- Added by bsweetnsour on 01/26/2013

The Hobbit
The Hobbit by J.R.R. Tolkien (Classics, Literary Fiction, Biography)
I just finished reading this book for the first time, and I love it. It was easy to get through in just a couple of days, with all the adventure and likeable characters. Of course, Bilbo Baggins is my favorite, such a great every-man type that has extra courage and wits, kind of like Harry Potter. But Tolkien's writing style I just adore. What detail he adds without making it too boring, and adds humor to most every situation. -- Added by bsweetnsour on 01/19/2013

Living Soul
Living Soul by S B Niccum (Science Fiction, Fantasy, Science, Health)
I really enjoyed the first book in the series, Veiled, and so I had to read this one as well. Since I was already familiar with the world and style, I read it more quickly, but I was a bit disappointed. I feel like Living Soul was a bit less polished and could use some more editing. And since it was in the real Earthly world that I'm more familiar with, it just wasn't as interesting to me. Also, it was much more clearly Christian, with scriptures and prayers scattered throughout, something I didn't notice in the first book and which turned me off a bit - why not leave it at generally spiritual? But I still liked it, and the ending set up another sequel which I'm sure I'll have to read when it comes out. The author has successfully drawn me in! -- Added by bsweetnsour on 01/16/2013
