Does the World Get Fed in 2050?

October 12, 2017
7:00 p.m. - 8:00 p.m.

The United Nations predicts the earth's population will rise to 9.6 billion by 2050. Feeding that many people requires current food production to increase by 70% and in parts of the developing world by over 300%. Vahid Adun from Dow AgroSciences and a member of Dow's Science Ambassadors, will discuss how to achieve this seemingly insurmountable task.

The presentation will include a discussion of obstacles to overcome, including social and public perception that prevents full exploitation of biotechnology, genetically modified organisms (GMOs) and new technologies that could help alleviate hunger, nutrient deficiency and food insecurity, especially for the most vulnerable people in the developing world.

Registration is not required. For more information, call the Reference Desk at (317) 844-3362.

This program will be held in the Program Room.
