Legislative Literacy: Becoming More Engaged in State Government

October 23, 2017
6:30 p.m. - 8:30 p.m.

What is the process for a bill to become a law in Indiana? How can you follow the progress of a bill in the Indiana General Assembly? Do you know who your state legislators are and how to effectively communicate with them? How do legislative advocates and the media influence our engagement in state government?

Get answers to these questions and ask others at a panel discussion that will include:

  • Donna Schaibley, Representative of Indiana House District 24
  • John Krull, Director of Franklin College's Pulliam School of Journalism and host of WFYI's No Limits news and public affairs program
  • Julia Vaughn, Policy Director for Common Cause
  • Debbie Asberry, Redistricting Reform Advocate for the Indiana League of Women Voters

Registration is not required. For more information, call the Reference Desk at (317) 844-3362.

This program will be held in the Program Room and is a partnership between the League of Women Voters of Hamilton County and Carmel Clay Public Library.
