Voting Ends for Teens' Top Ten

October 14, 2017
9:00 a.m. - 5:00 p.m.

The Teens' Top Ten is a "teen choice" list, where teens nominate and chose their favorite books of the previous year! Nominators are members of teen book groups in twenty schools and public libraries around the country. Nominations are posted on the Thursday of National Library Week in April, and teens across the country vote on their favorite titles each year. Readers ages twelve to eighteen will vote online between August 15 and Teen Read Week (October 8-14, 2017) on the Teens' Top Ten site at http://www.ala.org/yalsa/teenstopten. The winners will be announced the week after Teen Read Week.

Carmel Clay Public Library's Teen Library Council (TLC) is one of the twenty groups chosen to "read all the books" published in 2017 to help select the short list for all teens around the country to vote on NEXT year and the year after. TLC members are required to read and review two new books per school year.

Members of the library's Teen Volunteer Corps (sounds like "core" because the "ps" is silent) may choose to help the TLC with this project and earn volunteer hours by attending "Raiders of the ARCs" sessions in September, October, and November. Watch for more information soon!

TLC members are automatically TVC members but not vice versa. TLC applications are accepted only between May 1 and May 31 each year, followed by an interview. TVC applications are accepted via the library's website any time at http://www.carmel.lib.in.us/teens/teens.cfm.
