This Vogue Knitting book is full of classic knitting patterns for sweaters, shawls, hats, dresses, baby and childrens sweaters, and even a pillow. What sets this book apart from most others is the 2-page profile on each of the eight featured American designers. Most of the designers come from textile and clothing design or costume making backgrounds. But would you expect someone with a master's degree in linguistics or a French translator to find her passion in designing knitting patterns? Read this book and find out what inspires these talented designers and how each one approaches her art very differently from the others. A special feature is a profile of Elizabeth Zimmerman and her daughter Meg Swansen which includes six of their designs.
Vogue Knitting looked back on almost twenty years of patterns to develop this collection. However, today's knitter will not be frustrated trying to work any of the patterns because they have been updated to include the latest yarns. A complete list of yarn resources has been included as well.
