These include a "Truffle Mass" in Richerenches, a festival for frogs' legs in Vosges, a chicken show in Bourg, a cheese-eating contest in Livarot, an Escargot Fair in Martigny, an unusual marathon in the wine country of Bordeaux, wine tasting in Burgundy, and spa retreats in Engénie-les-Bains.
Peter Mayle's love of all things French and (almost) all French people shines through in this delicious book. He thoughtfully includes information about the Michelin guide as well as contacts for the various festivals for those who may want to follow his footsteps in France.
