Maria Housen is a mother who had to deal with any parent's worst nightmare--her about to be three-year-old daughter Hannah has a tumor. The reader knows from the beginning of the book that Hannah is not going to survive, yet he learns that Hannah's irrepressible spirit sustained her mother, her brother and her father as they all went through this terrible ordeal. Hannah's Gift chronicles the last year of Hannah's life as her parents seek treatment options and work with doctors and hospital staff in their attempt to save her.
This is a heartbreaking book with a powerful positive message about the spirit of a very young child. During her life, Hannah caused positive changes to be made in the care of children at the hospital where she was treated. Since her death, her mother has continued to feel Hannah's spirit as she works with families going through similar tragedies.
