In the land of Aerthlan, children born when the two moons "embrace" have special abilities. Those in the four kingdoms on the mainland fear the Embraced children who are to be put to death if they are discovered. Lord Leofric of Benwick, the Beast, is Embraced and the nephew of the tyrannical king of Eberon, one of the mainland's kingdoms. He has earned the name of the Beast due to his ability, or curse, to absorb energy from lightning. His terrible and powerful ability makes it impossible for Leo to touch or be touched by others. While he battles dragons and elves as the kingdom of Eberon's Lord Protector, he evades his uncle's not so secret attempts at having him assassinated. Luciana is also Embraced and has been raised in a convent on an island kingdom where magic and those who use it are accepted. Luciana has spent her whole life believing her only family are the nuns of the convent and four other Embraced girls who are raised with her. One stormy night Luciana finds her father, a duke who owns land wanted by the king of Eberon. The king has planned to wed her to the Beast in hopes that one way or another the duke, Leo and Luciana will all perish leaving the king with more money, land, and power. However Leo and Luciana might just surprise the king, and themselves, by finding a magical love and save themselves and those they care about from death.
