This book is full of ideas to help readers bring their busy lives back into perspective. St. James offers tips for simplifying one's life, starting with common sense moves such as getting rid of the clutter around the house. She also discusses ways to simplify money matters. Then she switches from the material to the spiritual with hints for weeding out emotional clutter such as withdrawing from groups and social activities that are no longer enjoyable. She even goes so far as to recommend that readers should back out of the holidays if these busy times are providing more stress than joy! A chapter is provided just for women on how to reduce their "getting ready" time. She concludes the book with a chapter on "Hard Core Simplicity" for those who are truly motivated. Her sense of humor throughout the work enlivens this how-to book.
Almost anyone can gain from St. James's perspective on paring-down. While some ideas may seem too extreme for many readers, implementing even a few of her ideas may help readers reduce stress and free up some quality time. St. James is also the author of Simplify Your Life With Kids and Inner Simplicity.
